From the beginning our hope was to have this organization be more than “just another Krewe”, but instead to remain aligned with our Louisiana traditions and roots. It is important to us for you and your family to feel welcomed in hopes that one day future generations will continue to embrace the traditions we hold so dear. Krewe de Halcyon’s core values are family, fun and fulfillment year-round, with charity at the top of its list. Of course, we place special emphasis on the Mardi Gras season! The ball and parade will be a blast, and Louisiana’s carnival season will be enjoyed by all!
The ball was held at La Maison de Bella, and "Fly me to the Moon" was the Krewe's theme.
The Krewe raised money in support of fighting to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harmful effects of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases so they can live longer and grow stronger.
The parade rolls 2 Saturdays before Fat Tuesday each year. Our Krewe strives to to one day have a Mardi Gras parade in Ascension Parish.
The East Baton Rouge Lions Club collects more than 5,000 pairs of used eyeglasses each year. The donated glasses help many people to experience corrected vision for the first time enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. The Sorrento Lions Club's objective is to provide eyeglasses, eye exams and eye surgeries to those who are not able to afford them.
Personal hygiene bags with notes of encouragement were provided to men and women when served a meal.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at over 1,100 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad. It is Ascension Veterans Associations' goal for every Veteran's grave to have a wreath in our Parish.
The Gonzales Veterans' Parade rolls on the Sunday after Veterans' Day. It is a special day to honor all Veterans and their families.
Finding cures. Saving children.
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premiere event that brings communities together to raise funds and celebrate progress in the fight against this country's No. 1 and No . 5 killers, heart diseases and stroke.
The event raises money for projects in Ascension Parish to support our Veterans, including giving scholarships to Veterans' family members.
Farm Day is a special day where all children and their families are able to eat, play games, do crafts, ride horses and pet animals for free!
